TWRF needs your Support!
Who are We?
The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Foundation is up and running
and eager to have you outdoor enthusiasts on board! Organized late in
1999, the TWRF was created to encourage a greater awareness of and impliment
programs for the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency through activities
dedicated to conservation, protection, and restoration of Tennessees
wildlife, fisheries and their habitat
Why Do Tennessee enthusiasts need a Wildlife Foundation?
Historically the TWRA has been funded by the revenue derived from the
sale of hunting and fishing licenses, permits, exercise taxes on hunting
and fishing equipment and boat registration fees. These traditional
sources, however, can no longer meet the increased demand placed on
Tennessees wildlife and boating resources.
By developing creative ways to inform and educate the public about the
values and benefits of wildlife conservation and recreation by providing
a mechanism for them to financially support these activities, the Foundation
will increase support for wildlife and boating programs statewide.
How is the Foundation organized?
As a private, non-profit organization, the Foundation is composed of
a unpaid 10- member board that includes the Executive Director of the
TWRA and a representative from the Wildlife Commission.
How will the Foundation raise money?
The Foundation is raising its funds by soliciting gifts from concerned
individuals and corporations, accepting donations, grants, contracts,
bequests, and other appropriate activities.
How will the money be spent?
Acquiring land important to wildlife management across the state
Wildlife Education Programs - targeting youth, women, non-traditional
groups.
