Journalist named to edit pair of Civil War journals

Ed Hooper, longtime award-winning East Tennessee journalist, has been named editor of "The Civil War Courier" and the "Camp Chase Gazette," two widely circulated national publications dealing with the 1861-65 conflict.

"The Civil War Courier" is geared to persons interested in general civil war history and emphasizes efforts to preserve historical sites. "Camp Chase Gazette" is tailored to Civil War re-enactors. Both are published by Lakeway Publishing Co. in Morristown.

Hooper, 40, is a former news anchor at WIVK-FM and WNOX-AM. He recently researched and authored "Knoxville," a photographic history for the "Images of America" series published by Arcadia Publishing. Hooper holds more than 50 awards for his work as a broadcast and print journalist, including the U.S. Department of Defense's Medal for Distinguished Public Service.
